Dec 31, 2010
This was a very good trip! We sailed with you guys last year about this time and had a good trip then, but this one was much better! Adam, Mike and Luke were top notch and did a great job on the boat as well as off the boat with the fish cleaning. While it would be nice to have less travel time to the deep sea fishing spots, it is important to get to good spots. We were very pleased! Thanks to all and thanks to the photo lady, we love checking out the photos throughout the year.
Posted by unknown

Posted by the Dolphin View Seafood Restaurant A new smyrna beach restaurants

More Customer Comments

Nov 24, 2010
thanks for a wonderful trip. my husband and 2 teenagers went out with u they had the time of their lives . thank you we dont have many more vacations before they grow up and they tell everyone this was the best ever. we are planning vacation for april and the kids want to come back to new symnra to fish with you so once again thanks for making this the best vacation ever

Nov 22, 2010
The Pastime Princess Deep sea Fishing experience was one of the Best Ever.I'd like to compliment the hardworkers abroad for all the help to us fishing & also the professional cleaning & filleting of my catch of the day..They all deserve very good Tips at the end of each trip..In the 20 yrs here in Florida..I've tried the Rest of the Deepsea fishing Boats...and find that the Pastime Princess is the BEST!

Posted by the Dolphin View Seafood Restaurant A new smyrna beach

restaurants

Customer Comments

Dec 12 2010
had a great time deep sea fising! thank you doc for helping me with my fish and Adam, your great attitudes made my day. now i can fish. galley burger was awesome. Due to recent lawsuits brought forth by local FRA and other multifaceted organizations...THE BOTTOM FISHING BAN HAS BEEN TABLED INDEFINITELY! Snapper will still have their closure, but the fine folks that fish with you can still enjoy many other species for a time to come! The new Cedar assesment showed that the proposed closure was being put into effect with seriously flawed data and the snapper are healthier than they have ever been! However, the emergency closure that was a product of SEDAR 15 has led to a continued closure of fishing for red snapper. This closure is completely unnecessary in regards to this species and should be lifted immediately.

Even with the improvements to SEDAR 24 the latest science still lacks any fishing independent data. SEDAR 24 is completely dependent on fishing dependent data. According to Dr. Andrew Cooper, landings data can only tell scientists the health of the landings and not the health of the stock itself.

Currently there are new data streams being created that are fishing independent. One is the use of underwater cameras, and they are "Very promising" according the NMFS scientists that I have talked to. The other is the fishing independent long line and it is also very promising, red snapper are being caught in every depth zone from 60 feet out to 240 feet by heavy fishing equipment that should not catch any red snapper inside of 150 feet(300 pound test leaders).

These new promising data streams will be available for an update assessment in 2013. This is three years away and is too long to keep red snapper closed. The headboat fishing and charter fishing businesses that depend on red snapper will not survive these three years. They should not be put out of the fishing business by science that has no fishery independent data.

This council should open red snapper fishing as soon as it is feasibly possible until these new data streams can be incorporated into the science. These people should not be put out of the fishing business because they have to wait for three years for this data to come available. There is no threat that red snapper are going to become extinct in the next three years and in fact the early evidence is that they are thriving(cameras and long line). There is a threat that many fishing businesses will be lost and people will continue to lose their fishing jobs if red snapper fishing continue to be closed.

Why would this council want to continue to destroy fishing businesses and put people out of work when there is no real threat to opening this species for three years until the update? If this closure of red snapper fishing continues there is a real threat to many fishing businesses being destroyed. The fishery might be a little healthier but there will be few fishing businesses left to take advantage of this mismanagement.

At the June meeting or sooner this council should pass an emergency rule to have an emergency opening of this species to save jobs and fishing businesses while data is collected over the next three years before the update. If the update shows that a closure of the species is still warranted then we will all accept it gladly.

Thank you for your time and Happy Holidays!

Thank you,

David Nelson

Posted by the Dolphin View Seafood Restaurant. The SEDAR 7 update from the Gulf of Mexico red snapper is the best science available on this topic and when you compare SEDAR 24 to SEDAR 7 it does not add up for the same species.

Example: From 1945 to 1970 the GOM red snapper produced age 0 classes of 25 million or more every year during that time period, 25 years in a row. Then from 1970 to 2008 it produced age 0 classes of 25 million to 110 million every year after, without exception. It never fell below the 25 million mark for those 39 years, not once. In fact, most years it was double or triple the historic age 0 class numbers.

In the Atlantic there is no age 0 fishing mortality that fishermen or scientists know of. Therefore age 1 classes from 1945 to 2009 should have a similar pattern(not size) in comparison to age 0 in the GOM.

According to SEDAR 24 In the SA from 1955 to 1970 the age 1 classes start at 637,000 and then drop every year to 263,000 by 1970. Then from 1970 to 2009 they fluctuate wildly from year to year with 32 years falling below 300,000. Of those 32 years, 23 fell below 200,00, and 5 fell below 100,000. This was derived without any data.

SEDAR 7 and the spawner recruit relationship in it, is the best science available on this subject. There is a huge amount of fishery independent data that backs up this science. SEDAR 24 has no data at all about age 0 fish and very little about age 1 fish. These are same species, different regions, one data rich in the GOM and no data in the SA.

How can this assessment be taken seriously by anyone that is a stakeholder? How can this council continue down this path trying to manage resources with science that does not resemble reality? How can this council allow one more person to have their life destroyed with science like this?
Please do something to make this right.

This council needs to reject SEDAR 24 and create an emergency rule reverting back to the 1997 assessment as the best science available. Then take SEDAR 24 away from the Beaufort Lab and complete a VPA using an independent scientific review after making corrections and collecting better data.

This is never going away.

Thank you,

David Nelson

Posted by Dolphin View Seafood, a New Smyrna Beach Restaurants

To whom it concerns,

Dr. Roy Crabtree called me today and explained that this Friday, December 3, 2010 the Snapper Grouper FMP Amendment 17A final rule will publish to implement the various changes for Red Snappers. Also on Friday an emergency rule shall publish suspending the closed area for 180 days until about May 1, 2011. In the meantime, the Regulatory Amendment 10 shall be developed to seek a time/area closure that should implement about June 2011 that may be a smaller time period than year round, and a smaller region. A lot of those choices may get hashed out next week at the SAFMC meeting in North Carolina.
The Red snapper moratorium will continue throughout next year from NC to the Florida Keys. The NMFS SEFSC and the Beaufort Lab will continue working on SEDAR 24 and may have to consider the " commercial weighting" issue for average sizes with the historic catch for both commercial and recreational that is troublesome to the Red Snapper stakeholders. We will discuss the validity of the need for that change next week in North Carolina also. Dr. Crabtree indicated that the agency probably will not attempt to ever do a VPA continuity run for the original Red Snapper stock assessment dated April 1997 due to several issues such as natural mortality rates used, the age issue, etc.

Posted by the Dolphin View Seafood Restaurant a Dayton beach restaurants

To: SA Council

The red snapper moratorium is based on SEDAR 15. This fact alone should be good cause to lift the red snapper ban for six months until some science that is close to reality can be completed. The area closures are not the biggest threat to our region, it is the unneccessary red snapper closure that is destroying us.

Neither SEDAR 15 or SEDAR 24 are the best science available. The system has failed us all because of lack of data and common sense(SEDAR 15). For example in SEDAR 24 they have an 18 pound historic average weight for a fish with a maximum average weight of 20-22 pounds, give me a break. The best science available is the 1997 assessment that thirteen years ago claimed that the stock was responding well to management. This council should revert back to that science and open the red snapper fishery back up because it has been in a healthy state of rebuilding since 1992.

We have gone from fishing at 12 times the sustainable level(S-15) to just 2.6 times(S-24) in less than 18 months with no fishery independent data. This 460% mistake alone should be enough to open the fishery for six months while something realistic is completed.

This council should not accept SEDAR 24 until all mistakes are fixed. It is not the best science available.

Thank you,

D. If not, not only could this be a treat for your kids, but for you as well.

Taking a day trip on a deep sea fishing boat not only appeals to the more experienced fisherman, but for those who are novices as well. It is a great way to spend the day which is almost guaranteed to keep happy and also offers a challenge to see who can catch the biggest fish!

Deep sea fishing boats have experienced crew members who ensure the safety of all their passengers, not only that, they offer their experience to show you how to cast your line into the sea which will offer a greater chance on catching some really cool fish.

You don't need to worry about taking your own equipment because more often than not this is provided, infact, it is wise to check this before booking a trip.

Deep sea fishing also open's up a new world to children who have never experienced this event before. Children as well as adults find fishing intriguing, especially when they can talk about the different variety of fish that occupy our seas. Not only is the day filled with fun, it can also be educational and offer an appreciation for the world around us.

The great thing about taking a fishing trip on a boat with an experienced crew is that they know the best places to go to ensure fish are caught which saves any dissapointment of the day.

Taking a trip on a deep sea fishing boat not only offers a day of fishing in the sea’s, but also the boat ride to the location itself is an experience in itself, and especially one that the kids will appreciate if it is something they have never experienced before.

Fishing isn’t just about casting a line into the sea, there are many things to consider which all come together when finding the best way to catch the bigger fish.

Things such as bait, weights, location as well as how far to throw in your line. Different fish go for different bait and weights that you put on the line will determine the movement underwater.

Not all fish swim the same, so it makes sense that not all bait floats the same. The way the weights move the bait under the water can be the deciding factor as to which fish you are more likely to attract.

One thing you can be sure about is safety first. The crew recognise weather trends as well as ensuring the safety of people on the boat during a trip. You don’t need to be an expert to show someone how to cast a net into a river, but you do need to be an expert when spotting anything that might be a risk to someone’s safety.

Thankfully, that’s why you have an experienced crew around to not only assist you and ensure you have a fun packed day, but to also ensure your safety during the trip.

Deep sea fishing charter boats is all about having fun, and if you take a trip with the family, the fun and thrills to be had as well as the education lessons (as we all know, kids have a lot of questions to ask) can prove to be a fantastic experience for everyone concerned.

Fishing Equipment

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_hq3SLanquWI/SE51-9RWVJI/AAAAAAAAAFI/rEv1moto_O4/s200/fishing.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5210231543373911186" />
Long gone are the days when we were kids, we would grab a pole, tie a piece of string on it and hook and head on down to the local pond for a spot of fishing. Kids who fish are as serious about fishing as us adults and they also have to think about their street cred!

So what to you need nowadays to go fishing?

Well, the basics are of course a rod, a fishing line, weights, hook and bait; however, it doesn’t always stop there.

Equipment needed for fishing would also depend on which type of fishing you want to do. Types of fishing include, deep sea fishing, lake fishing, pond fishing, canal fishing or perhaps carp fishing.

Some types of fishing also require a licence, so it is important to find out if your chosen type of fishing involves you applying for a fishing licence.

The ideal way to find out exactly what you would need for your chosen type of fishing would be to walk into a tackle shop and discuss equipment with the person behind the counter.

If you walk into a fishing shop, presented before you would be a mass of equipment and accessories from rods and reels to chairs and tents. You could even buy an electronic bite alert, therefore, talking to someone experienced would be a great help when considering what equipment you need.

Fishing equipment can be as cheap or expensive as you want it to be. Fishing in lakes and ponds may only require the bear minimum. Why take the fun out of fishing by adding all the expense? We already know it is possible to enjoy a great day out fishing without having to spend a fortune on equipment.

For the more serious fisherman, using a wooden pole and stones as weights simply would not do, especially if they are on a fishing weekend.

Fishing at night is said to be more successful than daytime fishing if you want to bait a particular fish. Most fish are more active at night looking for their feed, therefore, many fisherman will leave their homes at 11 – 12 pm at night to set up for a nights fishing.

On top of your essential fishing equipment, you would also need to consider waterproof clothing, a large umbrella, seating and perhaps even a tent.

Once you do have your equipment, and you have spent the day on the lakes catching your bait, remember to rinse off your reels and rods in fresh water, this is especially so if you have been fishing in salt water.

Most equipment is fine in a cool dry environment, but do not be tempted to lean your rod up against a wall, this could cause your rod to warp, instead, store them vertically or horizontally.

Whatever equipment you decide to purchase for the type of fishing you choose, we all know that fishing is fun.

A recent study showed that most fisherman fish for any type of fish and happy with whatever they catch, just as long as they catch something. In this case, equipment needed for fishing would perhaps prove to be less expensive and a lot more fun.

This is the type of fishing the kids are interested in, however, you still have to watch those pockets, as kids come up with all kinds of equipment they ‘need’ and just cannot do without. Sound familiar?

Related: Deep Sea Fishing Orlando and Daytona Beach.

Fishing or Boating or both

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_hq3SLanquWI/SA3YATsq4FI/AAAAAAAAAA4/lO-Zj9OziFw/s200/dsf.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5192043445227282514" />
A study performed in 2007 by RBFF revealed that people are more likely to opt for boat fishing rather than fishing or boating as a separate form of recreation. The study also revealed that people are more like to buy a boat for fishing rather than any other purpose.

The study was based on 3 categories, Boater, Angler and Boating Angler.

The study showed that people are more attracted to the idea of boat fishing rather than fishing only. The study also revealed that people are more likely to buy a boat to fish rather than buying a boat just for recreation purposes.

The study revealed that fishermen who do not currently own a boat are actively looking around to buy one and the purchase is likely to happen within the next 12 months.

Those who boat fish are also more likely to have a different perspective on the environment rather than those who just fish or own a boat for general recreation.

The study showed that fishing motivates people to get out on the water in a boat and that more than half of all boats sold, are bought for deep sea fishing.

The idea of the study was to reveal which market would be better promoted. Boating or Fishing, however, the study revealed that there was a greater market for Boat Fishing as people who like to fish are more likely to buy a boat to go fresh or sea water fishing.

Although these statistics revealed that boat fishing is more popular, not everyone can afford to purchase a boat, therefore, alternatives such as taking a deep sea fishing trip is also highly appealing.

Statistics show that people like the idea of jumping in a boat and going deep sea fishing, especially if you are already a fisherman, therefore, promoting the idea of deep sea fishing trips for those who cannot afford to purchase their own boat would also appeal to a niche market.

So not only is their a market to sell boats as well as fishing equipment, there is also a market to promote deep sea fishing trips.

Most anglers today will tell you that they were first introduced to fishing around the age of 8 to 9 and generally through family members. They said they would be more likely take up fishing if their friends had the same interest.

Children today who are interested in fishing probably own their own fishing rod and are aware of which bait and weights to use. They likely head off down the local river with their friends for a fun day of fishing.

It is of course highly unlikely they can afford to buy their own boat, but the idea of going on a deep sea fishing trip will greatly appeal to them.

You do not need to be an experienced fisherman to take a deep sea fishing trip nor do you need to fork out the cost of purchasing the equipment needed to take a trip.

A large percentage of day trip fishing boats provide all the equipment you need as well as having experience to hand for those who are not familiar with deep sea fishing.

Generally you can take a trip any time of year, day or night, as long as the trip co-ordinators provide this service.

So for you fishermen out there who love the idea of boat fishing yet cannot afford your own boat, there is still an alternative option for you. As a cat would naturally catch a mouse, a man would naturally catch fish, and even today, that gene is still roaming around giving us the urge to fish.

Generally people don’t need to fish anymore to ensure they will eat, but still, people still have the desire to fish.

Even today estimates show that fish provides 16% of the worlds protein.

Trading cod has been going on for more than 1000 years and is now one of the longest lasting trades in history.

US Statistics say that in 1996 nearly 20% of the population went out hunting or fishing and in 2006 the UK alone consumed 524 tonnes of fish.

So as well as fishing for fun, we still eat fish as a part of our normal diet.

Fishing is now generally classed as a sport for either recreation or competition. You can either go fishing down to your local river, or you can book a trip on a fishing boat and go deep sea fishing in Orlando or anywhere else in the world.

If you go out fishing for the day and don’t catch a bite, you come away deflated, but if you go out and come back with a big fish, you feel a buzz and pleased with your achievement.

Have you ever been with anyone fishing when they catch a big fish, or maybe you have been fishing yourself and had a good bite and you say jokingly ‘We eat tonight!’?

Perhaps this could be due to the natural instinct within us from centuries ago where men would go out fishing and when he got a good bite, he knew he and his family were going to eat that night.

What we do know is that fishing is a part of our lives today as well as a part of our history, and perhaps it is a natural instinct for us to fish. We enjoy the act of fishing as much as we like to eat fish as a part of a diet.

Deep Sea Fishing Orlando - Its All In The Weight

Whether you fancy deep sea fishing in Orlando or anywhere else in the world, knowing a little about which weights and baits to use can make a huge difference when looking for that big catch.

The more experienced deep sea fisherman know what it takes to get a good bite, but it isn’t just a matter of casting your rod into the sea and hoping for the best. There are a few things to take into consideration.

Certain fish feed at different times of the day, if there is a particular fish that you are hoping to catch, then it is worth finding out what time of the day these fish are most active and timing your deep sea fishing trip to go out at that time of day.

As well as the right time, it is important that you use the right weights to meet the weather conditions.

You can’t always tell what is happening with your line once you have cast it out into sea, but you can tell by the surface what kind of current you might expect underneath.

The way your bait moves underwater can also determine whether or not you are likely to get a bite, so using the right weights are important.

There are a number of different weights you can use, and here are just a few to give you an idea what to look out for.

Pear Shaped
Pear shaped weights are the more commonly used weights. These weights are great for normal weather conditions. They allow the bait to move around to help things look more normal to the passer by fish that are looking for a feed. However, these will not be much use in stronger currents.

Grip Leads
Grip leads are great for stronger tides when a Pear shaped weight just isn’t strong enough.

Watch Leads
Watch leads are like flat rounded weights which are similar to Pear shaped weights but they won’t roll around so hold the bottom of the sea bed better.

Ball Weights
Ball weights are not like the other leads. Ball weights slide onto the rod rather than being tied. As well as being used as normal weights, people also use them to give more weight to the rod.

When choosing the right weight for weather conditions you should also take into account how those weights will act underwater. It is always better to have a weight that is too heavy than a weight that is too light.

Weights that are too light will make the tackle move towards the river bank. This looks un-natural and will likely give you fewer bites than a heavier weight.

If you are on a deep sea fishing trip and you have cast out and you are not getting many bites, it is always worth experimenting with different weights as well as different bait.

You could cast out 2 rods and leave one static and experiment with the other. If you are not getting a catch in a long period of time, then it is definitely worth experimenting.

Using fresh fish as bait is always better and likely to get more bites. Bigger fish are attracted to fresh bait, so if it means you have to spend a little more on your bait, the reward that will come from it will be worth it.

If you are the kind of person who enjoys night fishing, then using a luminous bead with a torch will enable you to see where you have cast out for at least 20 seconds.

As well as this, using a head torch will ensure your hands are free when a big fish comes along.

It may sound a lot to take in for the new deep sea fisherman, but well worth taking note of to give you a better experience on your fishing trip.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://deepseafishingorlando.blogspot.com/2008/03/deep-sea-fishing-orlando-its-all-in.html' title='Deep Sea Fishing Orlando -
